When Life Hands You Sushi….

A few weeks ago I blogged about doing a small act of kindess and having it leave a big impact (you can read it here). What seemed like a simple task of typing up my notes for someone ended up helping him much more than I ever would have known! In the blog post, I mention that he wanted to return the favor and take me out to lunch. Well, I just got back from eating with him and had a great time!

We ate at a place called Fusian, which is pretty much like a chipotle for sushi! I had never been there before, but vegetarian me squealed when I saw tofu as a fish substitute on the menu!

This is what the menu looks like:
(I got it right off of their website)

While sushi is very delicious, it was extremely hilarious to have a conversation because sushi is a food that cannot really be bitten into–you just have to stick the whole piece in your mouth! So we saved each other the embarrassment and took turns talking while the other chewed.

See! Asian Chipotle!

It’s quite dangerous that I now know how wonderful this place is because I really should be spending my college meal plan money……

Ha ha ha…

Hey! He kindly paid for me, so I can get away with it this one time! 😉

Want to know something crazy? No? Well, I’m going to tell you anyway. Hahaha. All I did was give the stranger next to me in class my notes to copy, and it completely turned into something wonderful! He opened up to me and told me why he had to miss two weeks of class and said that me giving him notes made his life a lot easier. It was really touching! You never know how much a small act of kindess can help a person, or how far it can go.

It also changed my life. If you don’t know this, I transferred to Ohio State this semester from the University of Dayton. Coming from a small, private school to a large, public school halfway through the year, of course I was scared. Sure, I know people from my high school, but I only know one or two people who I actually am friends with. I have never been the greatest at making new friends because I let my shyness get a hold of me at times, but hanging out with Chase today was such a great time! If I never had helped him out, I would have missed the opportunity on a new friendship! We have a lot in common and I can’t wait to get to know him more!

Life does things that are really, really cool sometimes. 🙂

Have a great week!
