The weather was around 90 degrees yesterday, so I wanted to spend as much time as possible outside. My boyfriend Alex and I went to the Penitentiary Glen Reservation in Willoughby, Ohio. We spent around four hours there without even meaning to! Time really does fly when you’re having fun. 🙂
We walked around the trails and paths, saw many different kinds of animals including a fox (it was in a cage–no worries), chipmunks, a snake, a toad, fish, black squirrels, and birds (Red-Winged Blackbirds, Sparrows, Bluejays, Cardinals, Robins, Owls, Vultures, Hawks, Crows, Canadian Geese, Mallards, and Herons). There was also a caged Bald Eagle, but he wasn’t there when we went, so hopefully he is when we go back! I’ve never seen one before! And even though we saw many animals, I kind of wish we ran into a deer too! Even though they are always in my backyard, seeing them never gets less exciting. We also climbed up and down 141 stairs. Whew!
I had a really fun time! Especially because being in a relationship with someone who is such a nature lover really increased the interest level in me. Alex is also a really huge bird expert, so being around him has gotten me interested in bird-watching. I’ve always wanted to pick up a new hobby, so it’s pretty exciting! It’s also really awesome being able to hear a certain bird song and be able to identify the bird! I’m picking up pretty fast!
I took tons of pictures, so are a few of the ones that I took of our journey. I can’t wait to go back! 🙂
What’s your favorite thing found in nature? 🙂
Have a wonderful weekend!!!
