DIY dry erase board

I am living off campus next year in an apartment complex with two other girls. This will be my first time sort of “living on my own” because I will be fully in charge of cooking myself meals, doing chores, and making sure my bills are paid on time. I’m pretty excited though! I have been told by many that living off campus is very fun.
I want to be as frugal as possible because bills, laundry, meals/ingredients, tuition, extra spending, etc., is going to pile up, but I don’t want a completely dull and boring apartment. I have been thinking of and searching for ways that I can dress up our living space without breaking the bank and I stumbled upon this genius idea on Pinterest.

All you need are three items:

– A frame
– A piece of card stock (I chose a purple glittery one)
– A dry erase marker

You guys are going to laugh at how ridiculously simple and easy this is.

Now take the frame and put a fun piece card stock inside instead of a picture. Voila! Dry erase board. The marker comes off easy peasy lemon squeezy with a finger or a tissue.

Now my roommates and I can write cute messages to each other. The card stock can be easily changed (and it is super cheap. I bought mine for a couple cents) so I’m going to buy some fun colors and patterned ones too! I think this will look cute in the living room area so it is visible and can be used by everyone.

FYI: you will need to cut the card stock the same size as the picture frame. I did this by taking out the model/example photo that came inside the frame, placing it on the back side of the card stock, and tracing. Then, I just cut it out. This way, I have the exact dimensions without having to use a tape measure.

Let me know if any of you guys try it out! Even if you aren’t in college, this is a super cute craft that is super duper versatile.

Here are some ways I think it can be used:

To write…

– a to do list
– a shopping list
– what is for dinner (parents!)
– a calendar
– a reminder
– an quote
– a message
– a fun drawing
– a game of tic tac toe or hangman without using any paper
– down something you don’t want to forget (like a phone number!)
– your fitness routine for the day

Can you guys think of any other ways this DIY Dry Erase Board can be used? Let me know if you try it out or if you have any cheap but cute ways to decorate a living space!
