One interesting thing I have discovered on my self-love journey is that when you are kinder toward other people in your life, you tend to think about and treat yourself in a kinder way, too.
And the other nice thing about this is that how you treat others is how they tend to treat you in the long run.
So I have found it very helpful to focus on being kind in my daily life.
Vincent Van Gogh once said, “I feel that there is nothing more truly artistic than to love people.”
That is why I painted sunflowers on top of a starry night inspired by his Starry Night. That is why I painted this piece for my friend as a random gift. I wanted to honor his beautiful words by showing someone love. I am very excited to give this gift to her today!
Kindness doesn’t have to be about big things.
It can simply be listen fully for a few minutes as you let someone vent; giving a genuine compliment; letting someone into your lane while driving; taking a few minutes to help someone out; or giving someone a cookie.
Kindness is doing something for someone else. It’s that simple.
You not only have the power to change someone’s life just by simply lifting their spirits and day higher, but you bring yourself joy as well. It seems the practitioner of the random act of kindness reaps as much joy as the receiver. I’ve always left kind notes or affirmations in library books, and while I’ve never been present to see the reactions, I’ve been filled with a sense of peace and well-being nonetheless.
Kind acts only have positive benefits. You will never feel badly about extending kindness to a stranger or friend, nor will you ever feel badly about receiving kindness. These acts are pure and bring both beings closer to the origin of human bliss.
Practicing kindness to ourselves and our fellow human beings lifts us up to a more genuine level–one that allows us to receive more love, compassion, and kindness.
So, on this #SelfLoveSunday, how are you extending kindness into the world?
I challenge you to do something kind for someone else this week and reflect on the feelings that kindness brings you.
Leave me a comment about your experience. 🙂
